Flamenco & Car Shows

Back in Palma, I found a small theater that puts on flamenco performances every week.  Since I hadn't seen flamenco yet, I decided to go see a show, and it was a lot of fun!  The theater is hidden away in the old town, and it's pretty small.  I liked that it was small because it was an intimate performance.  There were maybe 40 people at the show, and we all got a complimentary glass of Mallorcan wine with our ticket.

The performance was incredible!  I was really impressed by the intensity of the dance and the emotion in the songs that were sung.  It was like watching the fastest and most intense tap dancing I'd ever seen, but it was also incredibly fluid and graceful.

I also found a car show here on the island and had to check it out!  It was held in Port Adriano, a huge and pretty fancy port on the southeast coast of Mallorca.  I took a bus and walked down to the port to see what types of cars had been entered in the show.

The car show was advertised as an American car show, and as I got closer to the show, I could hear 1950s rock and roll playing.  I rounded the corner and saw a band playing on a stage in the center of the venue, and Elvis was up next to sing on stage.  I saw Trans Ams, Mustangs, Stingrays, 1950s Chevy pickups, you name it.  The usual American car show turnout.  I really liked getting a glimpse of home; Saturday morning car shows are the norm for me back in Lubbock.

As I walked further into the show, I got to see a bunch of European cars as well, and there were a bunch of vehicles I'd never seen before!  I had a lot of fun looking around and later had some chipirones (fried baby squid) and a coke while I listened to Elvis sing on stage.

I also got to see a new Ford GT. I'm not sure why it was there, but I wasn't complaining.
