Tapas and Playas

I've been to a couple of restaurants in the past two weeks and had some really great food! I've also visited a couple of beaches in other parts of the island.

We went out for tapas a couple times and tried a wide variety of foods. I've tried pasta, carpaccio, falafel, pimientos padron, croquetas and even Spanish potato salad. Let me tell you, I haven't had anything i didnt like so far! A couple friends and I even had some really great white sangria at one tapas place that was perfect on a hot evening.

At a restaurant the other night, I decided to try some new seafood. I got pulpo (octopus) y berberechos (cockles) and it was fantastic! The octopus was tender and the cockles were served in the shell. It was cooked in oil and herbs and turned out to be really good.

Some friends from school and I also traveled by bus to a couple different beaches outside of Palma. We tried a beach in Alcudia first. It's on the coast north of Palma. It was very nice! There were white sands and clear water. The water was pretty still, so it was quite peaceful. We tanned and swam and played beach tennis. Then to complete our day at the beach, we ate at a really cute restaurant right on the coast.

My favorite beach so far is Playa del Mago. I went there for my birthday last month and suggested it to some girls in school. We took a bus there and walked through the trees to reach a rocky outcropping where we could lay out our towels and bags. The water was sooo blue and clean and crisp. With no sand, it was a lot less messy too.
